OUR MISSION
The lack of reliable transportation, whether that being unable to afford a reliable personal vehicle or the transit service having its route limitations, is a major issue and cause of unemployment within the low income community. Another cause of unemployment insecurities are SPATIAL BARRIERS, that being 20-30 minutes travel time between low-income housing and better employment opportunities with higher wages and benefits!
My hope by providing reliable transportation with equitable employment is to help establish a sustainable lifestyle built on the solid foundation of reliable transportation, equitable employment,equal housing and good credit.

Not owning a personal vehicle is a form of Unemployment Insecurities that make managing daily task and priorities burdensome for the entire family; As such,Children cant participate in after school education programs and sports. Unable to make Doctor appointments, grocery shop as needed and unable to sustain employment nor participate in Community Engagement Activities. It takes
ACCOUNTABILITY and responsibility to own and operate a vehicle! Owning a reliable vehicle can create healthy life changing opportunities for the entire family!

The Kansas City L.I.E. (Low Income Economy)
The employment opportunities within Kansas city low income communities aren't able to provide an equitable wage! (why is this?) Within Low income communities employment options are local businesses as such,liquor stores, gas stations,used car lots,auto body shops,fast food,mom and pops stores,barber shops, hair stores,Non-profit organizations and coffee shops…None of these small business are able to employ individuals in the community with equitable income to provide for a family!

One approach to being successful in a Kansas City low income community is to start a small business or non-profit organization providing a needed service or product.

Another approach is to get a Trade CERTIFICATION! The organizations and nonprofits that govern Kansas City's low income economy offer Certifications in various fields,such as CNA,CDL,Welding,Construction,Carpentry,etc. These certifications are life changing equitable employment opportunities within the low income community.

Also with Reliable Transportation there are Equitable wage employment opportunities in the field of general laborers that don't require a certification or experience. These opportunities are located a stressful distance away(spatial barrier) from low income communities; and these opportunities are manufacturers,factories and warehouses! Unfortunately with the transit service having limitations and most individuals in low income communities not having reliable transportation, securing the opportunity seems impossible.)
If I haven't started a small business! If I don't have a Certification,nor reliable transportation! Where do I turn to make a living,to survive,to provide the basic needs for my family!
I grew up in the system,literally!went through Foster homes,group homes,juvenile detention, to haven served 17 years flat in prison. I wasn't taught morals,values,integrity,dignity,how to feel or what those qualities meant! I was taught to live by rules,believe in policies,and follow guidelines! This is how my mind was conditioned! And For over a decade while in prison I lived off 8.50 a month and worked in a factory for .50 cent an hr..Self educated while in prison through participating and facilitating programs. A 100 days before I was to be paroled my mother died from lung cancer. Once released I Lived in my sister's garage while working at Pop eyes and walking to work. Better employment opportunities came when a friend gave me a car(I didn't know then,but see now that the Spirit of the Drive was present then). Many staffing agencies sent me to jobs that paid good but were 20 to 30 minutes from where I lived(Spatial Barrier)! My car wasn't reliable and I lost my job!...This cycle happened over and over again! Not long after being Released I became unemployed and homeless! I've purchased over 10 unreliable used vehicles,going into debt,destroying my credit and relationships,; all because I knew the decent paying jobs were far out and that I needed transportation.
Unemployment insecurities I've experienced! Spatial barriers, the distance between low income communities and equitable employment.Unreliable transportation to secure employment. Homelessness,the lack of proper sleep and a consistent healthy diet. Depression and anxiety. Denied employment due to a Felony conviction on my record.
And with this I am fortunate to be mindful,conscious of the seen accountable choices and the unseen acts of unemployment insecurities within the low income economy I live,and the impact it has had on my life.
I founded The Drive Outreach Employment Agency llc through the tedious experiences of unemployment insecurities within the low income economy I live; and through Faith and accountability and building relationships through community engagement endured.
My hope is to help establish a sustainable lifestyle built on the solid foundation of reliable transportation, equitable employment.
